This well known, historical listed building needed an upgrade to its hotel rooms, which had become tired and basic. Modernisation was required, but DV Architects also needed to maintain the character of the building.
The DV Architects construction design and management team instructed repairs to the stonework and metal windows, added air conditioning, ventilation, new lighting, new carpets and en suite bathrooms to all of the rooms. Period fireplaces were exposed and restored and windows that had been painted shut were refurbished in line with the listed building specifications. Following the refurbishment, the hotel business took off and DV Architects carried out a second phase of work, designing and managing an interior refurbishment of the pub to bring it up to the same standard.
